Videocatcher

Videocatcher is an Internet television application powered by KDE. Videocatcher makes it easy to subscribe to video channels (RSS/atom feeds etc.) and download new videos. It works as a podcast client as well.

It is similar to Miro but is lightweight and powered by KDE.

Downloading Videocatcher

Packages for most GNU/Linux distributions are available at opendesktop.org.

Windows executables will happen when I find the time and a usable Windows installation.

Background

I started working on Videocatcher because I had the following problems with existing Internet TV applications:

• There were none for KDE4 (and all others were either somewhat broken or required me to install half of Gnome)
• They tried to be everything in one application (for example I couldn't use my favourite media players to play back the videos)
• They tried to be smarter than me (for example I had to to constantly prevent them downloading stuff)
• They were slow

So Videocatcher tries to solve this by being a light-weight easy to use Internet TV application which is integrated into KDE4.
